Simon Says Stamp January 2021 Card Kit

January 31st, 2021 klwade Posted in cards, Simon Says Stamp Card Kit No Comments »

Every once in a while SSS will come out with a card kit that just blows me away. Between the papers and the stamps, it quickly ends up in my shopping cart.

The January 2021 card kit was definitely one of those kits. At first I fought the urge and the I started to see the beautiful cards designers were posting. I was sold. Send me that kit please, and hurry.

The Whimsy Stamps papers are so beautiful and when I saw the embossing folder was the clincher. Give me…give me.. give me.

I ended up making 12 cards, using all 12 papers. I could have continued, but since I bought I February Kit (hee hee) I needed to stop.

I started making snowflakes on the pretty background papers. They were either die cut or embossed using the stamp set.

The I used the embossing folder to create texture. Such a pretty embossing folder with beautiful snowflakes.

The I made some shaker cards

The I decided to use the Honey Bee Stamps Thin Frames die so I could see both sides of the paper.

And finally I used the Simon Says Stamp Shimmer Snowflake Die. This was one of my favorites.

This was a good kit, looking forward to the February kit,

Spring Card Camp Class Day 13 – Word Dies with Cathy Z

May 5th, 2020 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Online Card Class No Comments »

I love the clean and simple look that Cathy Z does with her cards. Not to mention that I always have to buy her dies (and stamps). She is one of my favs!

Using the glitter paste on the ink panel really makes this card shine.

But my favorite is the simple paper one. I love this paper from Honey Bee Stamps. I have been lovely looking at the print and just could not bear to cut into it. But this paper is perfect for this card.

I must make more of these cards. I am sure my friends would appreciate one of these carrds for thier special moments.

Thank you for looking.

Spring Card Camp Class Day 12 – DIY Ink Pad

May 3rd, 2020 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts, Online Card Class No Comments »

Jennifer McGuire always does videos with great techniques. I think it would be awesome if she would do a book, or a card series of techniques so people can reference to a technique so they can try a new idea or if someone needs some inspiration. Sort of like those card series you use to get in the mail, either recipes, or gardening, or crocheting and you kept them in a clear acylic box. I loved those when I was young/

Enough of me trying to convince Jennifer McGuire to do a book or card series. I have discovered that I do not have a single stamp of a solid images. I was about to give up on doing this card when I found my Concord and 9th strawberry stamp and die set.

If I have reinkers for my distress ink, it is a mystery to me where they are. I ended up using distress daubers. My baby wipes were dried out. The inks are not there, I tried to get the baby wipes to work with water. Lets just say it did not go well.

So I also used the daubers directly on the stamps. Which did allow the white space for the seeds to show. I also used the make shift ink pad to the water color paper and just cut out the strawberry shape. I actually like how these came out. I really like the green card.

I decided to focus on more solid stamps. I really need to expand my stamps from cute animals and word dies. LOL.

Anyone who knows me, knows I am abnormally attracted to fruits and vegetables in my stamps. I have this farm, animals, fruits and veggie thing. I think it might be my DNA. I come from a long line of farmers.

Thank you for looking at my cards.

Spring Card Camp Class Day 11 – Rainbows

May 3rd, 2020 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts, Online Card Class No Comments »

Who doesnt love a rainbow. I certainly do. When I was looking for some rainbow dies I found I have three of them. I guess a girl cannot have too many rainbows.

I did not want to copy the instructors vision but wanted a different look. I found the My Favorite Things skylines while looking for the rainbows and thought hmmmm this might look interesting.

I like how these came out.

The Paris skyline had a rainbow without any glitter. Just the plain colors.

The New York card I covered the rainbow with Brutus Monroe Fairy Dust embossing powder.

Again I used those wonderful Simon Says Stamp word strips. I really like those. Please make more SSS. I want them all.

Spring Card Camp Class Day 10 – Glitter Gel Tips

May 3rd, 2020 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts, Online Card Class 2 Comments »

I love glitter gel. Hence the name of my blog. All things shiny appeal to me.

This is the first time I am trying the Gina K design glitter gel. I really liked how smooth it went on.

I decided to use the Altenew Flowers as I am also taking one of their classes using their build a flower dies. I really liked how these came out.

I was originally going to have a mixture of the flowers then then decided I wanted to try to gold glitter gel as well as the silver glitter gel.

I love the Altenew build a flower subscription. I get the most beautiful flower stamp sets.

I had one flower left over and used it inside the card.

Here is the gold and yellow version.

I just love these cards.

Spring Card Camp Class Day 9 – Inking Stencils

May 3rd, 2020 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts, Online Card Class No Comments »

When I first started to watch the video, I was thinking, oh yeah, I can do this pretty fast. 2 days later and a lot of failures I finally made 3 that were somewhat close to what I wanted.

Either I had too much water and it was a pooled mess, or not enough. I tried wetting the cardstock first. Not wetting it. Rubbing hard. Not hard enough. However after it is all said and done I like all 6 of these.

I wanted to use the same dies from Waffle Flower. I have been sitting on them for a while.

I wanted to create an ocean feel for this card. I also used the halogram paper for the lettering. I really like how this one came out.

The final card transferred the best. Again I wanted to use those Waffle Flower Big Dies

Spring Card Camp Class Day 8 – Simple Shaker Cards

May 3rd, 2020 klwade Posted in Crafts, Online Card Class No Comments »

I always love a Cathy Z card design. She is the master of clean and simple. Again I realize that I do not have a die with words in it. I had to create a card using alphabet dies and a heart shape.

Spring Card Camp Day 7 – Double Word Dies

May 3rd, 2020 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts, Online Card Class No Comments »

I have discovered that I do not own any word dies with a box around it. This will become a problem later on on another lesson. I looked for a word die that one of my rectangles dies would fit around. Finally decided on a Happy Summer die from Pretty Pink Posh.

I inked up the card fronts of my card using a starfish stencil.

I added the yellow on the inside to make the words stand out more

Spring Camp Card Class Day 6 – Pieced Cards

May 3rd, 2020 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts, Online Card Class No Comments »

Been working hard on trying to get my cards done. Funny thing about this lesson, I loved one style and hated the other.

The paper piecing cards felt so early cardmaking that I felt it was too simple and something that I would not make. I do appreciate there was simple technique and easy to make but just not cup of tea,

However the other cards, the watercolor version just sang to my heart. I loved them.

I actually made 5×7 cards to really see and enjoy the colors. I used the Art Anthology water colors and a metallic watercolor. I wanted the feel of green grasses, blue oceans and golden sunshine.

I really struggled with using a kraft knife. It just does not work for me. However being a avid quilter, the rotaty cutter works wonders.

I used the wonderful Simon Says Stamp word strips. I really wish they would come out with more.

Thank you for looking!~

Spring Card Class – Day 5 Watercolor Masking

April 27th, 2020 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts, Online Card Class No Comments »

Debby Hughes is an icon to me. Her cards are just gorgeous. I do not think she has ever made a bad card in her life.

This technique crates a beautiful mask image on the card.

Just Bee-Cause
Bees Knees

I wanted to play up the background so the sentiment and the bee were the same color tones so they did not overpower the background

I love this look
